Me , Chef Henzil saldanha and Musician Mr Roshan Chamara from Srilanka travelled to Pune, India to host a Srilankan Food Festival at the Oakwood Premier hotel, Koregaon Park from 19 july to 28 july 2013.

At the outset, this was my first visit to India and I loved it.

One fine Cloudy day and still perfect to travel around Pune, a famous city in India, we went to one of the most beautiful constructions in the world like the Aga Khan palace (the prison for Gandhi) that Pune holds.

Two of my associates and I visited this palace to get more info and history on Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi a.k.a Mahatma Gandhi, the father of Indian nation.

Since my Childhood, I always loved to read and know more & more about mahatma Gandhi, Who is one of my all time heroes, He did a lot of good things to the Indian society and still is remembered by people across the world.

He was a freedom fighter and led India to independence and win freedom from the British- ruled India with great might.

Mahatma Gandhi as know as Bapu also used the Ahimsa concept, the movement for non-violence and in his way of fighting he made strong efforts to unite the Indian Hindus, Muslims, and Christians and struggled for the emancipation of the “untouchables “in Hindu society.

I must say that i was really lucky to see this palace and witnessed his personal things he used during the days while being imprisoned for two years at the Aga Khan palace. It was definitely a dream come true for me and I suggest the Indian government to preserve this memoir of Gandhi for eternal till the last generation.

Our historic journey still continues across India and can’t wait to share it with you all…..
