Braised prawn and bottlegourd in claypot with pumpkin sauce

chef Duminda try some prawns with bottle gourd cooked in claypot,and he topped pumpkin sauce on top.this is a creation of Chef.and this is a perfect  bland of flavors. sri lankans  love to try new dishes with bit spicy.all this fresh vegetables and seafood mostly available in sri lankan markets.let’s try the recipe now.
  • 200 g prawns
  • 1 1/2 red onion slices
  • 1 tsp bottle gourd slices
  • 50 g pumpkin
  • 1 tsp claypot turmeric powder
  • 1/2 fenugreek seeds
  • 2 tsp coconut oil
  • 2 tsp chopped curry leaves
  • 200 ml coconut milk
  • salt
  • pepper

3 potions 


  1. Peel prawns wash the prawns and keep a side
  2. clean and cut the bottle gourd in to rings shape
  3. Take a claypot,add the coconut oil and heat follow with onion and garlic saute until golden brown,
  4. lay the prawns and bottle gourd slices in the clay pot and cover,cook for five minutes in show fire.
  5. mean while take a another pan,add pumpkin,and turmeric powder,fenugreek and curry leaves,bring it to boil with coconut milk
  6. cook till pumpkin get mash.
  7. take the prawns out of the claypot and arrange on a serving plate.put the mash pumpkin gravy on top

Chef Duminda using sri Lankan style in here.but you are free to use your method.chef using claypot and wood fire in his recipe.coconut oil can be change to vegetable oil.
