Chicken Chopsuey

Chicken chopsuey is one of famous dish in all over the world.and sri lankan people crazy on Chinese can make any kind of chopsuey.and in my recipe i always try to give some think new flavor in to it.and i do change the vegetables as well.i like to use some broccoli to get the green too.

  • 200 g skinless chicken breast thinly sliced
  • 50 g celery chopped
  • 2 – 3 spring onions shredded lengthwise
  • 40 g green beans
  • 50 g Broccoli
  • 1 cup Chinese cabbage shredded
  • 1 cup bean sprouts
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger root
  • 3 cloves crushed garlic
  • 2 tsp cornstarch mixed to a loose paste with water
  • 2 tsp soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons stock
  • 2 dessertspoon rice wine
  • ½ teaspoon sugar
  • Sesame oil
  • Salt to taste

  1. Place a good splash of cooking oil in a wok or large frying pan. Add a few drops of sesame oil and heat.
  2. Add your chicken and fry till cooked.
  3. Remove the chicken from the pan and set aside.
  4. Add the garlic, ginger and pepper to the oil in the pan and fry for 30 seconds, stirring to prevent burning.
  5. Add all the vegetables and stir fry for about three minutes. The vegetables should still have some crispness to them.
  6. Add the sugar and salt and blend well.
  7. Add the chicken, rice wine, soy sauce and stock and stir fry for another minute or so.
  8. Add the cornstarch paste and cook until the sauce thickens and clears.
  9. Serve your chop suey on a bed of boiled or steamed rice.

do not over cook the Broccoli,if u over cook the green color will go off.try to blanch the broccoli and take.
